Celebrating Human Rights Day – Freedom & Oneness. Autumn Equinox 2024

Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world. This is a famous Nelson Mandela quote often used in this country.

As we near Human Rights Day Celebrations on  March 21, I am contemplating Madiba’s quote and the concepts of ‘Freedom and Oneness’.

At the Novalis Community College, we believe that in every healthy, vibrant human being, two ideals are working driven by a deep urge towards maturing personhood and living a fulfilling and fulfilled life. These two ideals are Freedom and Oneness. They are not mutually exclusive, but can be expressed in unison in a people who profoundly examine their lives and can express their full potential in service to the whole.   It is our destiny to do so.

As human beings, we are inherently born and destined to unlock innate capacities to master our destinies as co-creators with others.  In so doing, we make a difference and ensure that we keep and tend the natural garden state on Earth. We are destined to awaken the Spirit of Ubuntu and thus realise the full potential of our humanity.

Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change yourself and others in your world.   Education allows us and others to be uplifted from ignorance. We leave behind a circular imprisoning consciousness that keeps us ‘dumbed down’ in a victim-state consciousness.

Before we discuss Human Rights, let’s unlock sovereign rights and become the persons were destined to become. Each is unique. And when a certain level of personhood has been attained, we realise how similar we all are, more so than our uniqueness.

We have just celebrated another year of outreach work through the Novalis Library Project; and celebrated the Life of the late Mzwandile Sangweni, who left a legacy through this project. So, we are keen to embark on another cycle of inviting young learners to use their libraries to impart knowledge and skills and to educate themselves through the many books filled with ideas and ideals from enlightened leaders like Nelson Mandela.

We wish you well on your journey of exploring how to become free and enjoy oneness.

Celebrate Human Rights Day and awaken the Spirit of Ubuntu with us.
