DESCRIPTION:For Personal Development Programme bookings at The Novalis Ubuntu Institute please email Blessing Makumbe at blessing@novalis.org.za or telephone 021 797 1857. \nFINANCIAL CONFIDENCE: \n‘If you don’t know how to manage and work with a small amount of money\, you won’t know how to work with a large amount of money and will repeat the same mistakes.’ \nAttending this Financial Confidence workshop in a small group will give you personal attention and empower you with the tools and understanding to: \n\nmanage your finances with awareness and confidence\nmake informed decisions about spending\, saving\, debt and acquiring assets\nchange your negative patterns and impact those around you in a positive manner.\n\nWHAT WILL A SESSION COVER? \nDuring an interactive four-hour session we will cover: \n\nOur attitudes towards money\nIncome (This includes sources of income and division of income)\nExpenditure (How do we spend? Why do we spend? How do we use accounts\, cash and a budget?)\nDebt (Why we get into debt\, reducing debt\, managing debt\, loans\, interest rates)\nSaving (What saving entails and why it is important\, which platforms to use\, policies\, RAs\, investments)\nManaging your money (Reading statements\, your credit profile\, your will).\nMoney and Relationships\n\nAttendees will have the opportunity to work as individuals\, in pairs and in groups. They will complete worksheets to reinforce the learning\, get insight into their financial habits and to refer to and use after the course. \nAlthough the training is interactive and discussion is encouraged\, no personal financial information is shared. \nOUTCOMES OF A SESSION \nThe intention of the training is to: \n\ngive participants more confidence and motivation to manage their money effectively\nenable individuals to reduce debt over time\nencourage people to save and be financially self-sufficient enough to acquire assets.\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND? \n\nLower income earners who are financially more vulnerable and who lack financial knowledge\nIndividuals who are blacklisted\, have garnishee orders or credit problems\nIndividuals entering the job market for the first time\nEmployees who face retrenchment\nAnyone who wants better insight into their financial behaviour and well-being.\n\n \nNaëtt Atkinson is a mediator and mentor with 30 years’ experience in the Corporate\, NGO and Education sectors.
