e-Pollen Newsletter – Third Quarter 2024 – Novalis Turns 40

Dear Friends of Novalis Ubuntu

It has been a busy and creative third quarter.    Biggest milestone – Novalis Ubuntu saw its 40th anniversary since it’s official inception on the 21st September 1984.  We celebrated the day with a wonderful Board Meeting followed by a happy celebration marking our newly established partnership with the Clayton Family Business, Covertile Roofing.      This collaboration has meant a lot to us all, as they step in to assist Novalis with the restoration and repairs of its Centre.   Novalis members are hugely grateful for having right on our doorstep, Covertile Roofing’s long-standing expertise & dedication to community and a new generation.

Our CEO, Anne-Lise Bure-Shepherd, visited USA for an annual Conference, Mr Brown visited family in Zimbabwe, and Karen Alexander joined the Link-Up Team.     There is much happening in our lives,  as we continue to co-create a future that our hearts know is possible.    Novalis Staff celebrated a renewed team spirit & working together.

We are launching a new series of workshops for Teachers in 2025, to expand to care-givers and youth leaders, and supported by a renewed marketing and fundraising campaign, with a renewed collaborative arrangement with We Can Change or World. WCCOW.   Watch this space for more on these developments soon.

Novalis sends a SHOUT OUT to its civil society partners EarthChild, Black Girls Rising, SAILI, as well as MKP and AA.   It was lovely to have EL CHILD celebrate their Peace Conference at Novalis Centre in September.    Without the collaboration of civil society partners and synergies, our journey towards this 40th would not have been the same adventure.

We gladly witness a trend of books being launched, see the photos of Zubeida Jaffer and Mr Sijake celebrating their work at Novalis Centre.    Hanna von Maltitz managed to produce new exceptional paintings for her 2024 launch during 2024..   Her daughter, Mascha successfully hosted again their annual I-SEW EVENT.

We sense the bigger changes that we and our communities are facing at this time,  as well as our Country –  grappling with economic & infra-structural renewal.  We witness the struggles in the international field birthing a new world.  Grateful for the ongoing North-South Dialogue sessions with Sofia Association, and the many emails from donor-partners in the Northern Hemisphere.     May Novalis continue to garner your support for its work here, as we recommit to the next generation growing up in this new world.   We look forward to keeping you updated on how our programmes will assist educators, caregivers and youth leaders steer with Ubuntu values and aligned actions.

Every contribution towards our work is hugely valued, you will find the details on our website as usual.   All contributions are individually acknowledged.   Thank you for sending Novalis 40th birthday gifts as you are able.

We are thrilled to be doing this work together as a Team, we trust that you enjoy our update news.
